Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011 at 3:50 pm

Back in October, Nintendo invited me to the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony in Los Angeles. I was asked to dress up as Link. To celebrate the newest Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for the Nintendo 3Ds, I was Ocarina of Time Link at the Symphony.

I was extremely happy and excited to attend this performance. They were going to fly me down to LA but I decided to drive instead since it gave me more freedom with the transportation of the costume and props.

Once I made it to the hotel, which was super huge and beautiful looking, I met up with friends to go get lunch. After food times I went back to the hotel to start getting ready as Link!

The symphony hall was decorated out in Zelda, truly a great night for Zelda fans. My ticket was waiting for me at will call and once I got it, I headed to the hall lobby which had even more Zelda in it and demo stations for games. I was at the Ocarina of Time 3D promo banner and tons of Zelda fans took their pictures with Link!

The concert itself was amazing! I cried, and I would love to watch it again.
Eiji Aonuma started off by thanking everyone for coming. Everything about it was beautiful, now everyone can listen to some of the wonderful songs on the Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony CD that comes bundled with the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Collectors Edition. I lost count at how many times I have listened to all the songs on the CD. My favorites were definitely Gerudo Valley, and the Zelda Medley. I do wish they branched away from Ocarina of Time and played more songs from other Zelda games like Link’s Awakening and Majoras Mask. Koji Kondo made a surprise appearance to the audience by coming out and playing “Grandmas theme” from The Wind Waker on the piano. This was the 3rd time I watched him play the piano in person and it’s truly amazing watching the man that created these songs play them himself.

During intermission and after the concert, Link was out in the lobby posing with tons of Zelda fans again. A lot of people were really excited to see Link.

After the Symphony was over I met up with Eiji Aonuma and Koji Kondo backstage where they were waiting for me. It was great seeing them again and we grabbed photos and chatted, they completed my Ocarina of Time set by signing the left and right sides of my new Shield that I made for the release of Ocarina of Time 3D. Miyamoto signed the Master Sword a couple years ago.

Drove back home the next day.
This was one of the best experiences of this year. Thank you Nintendo for making it happen!
